Leading Swiss manufacturer Patek Philippe held its largest-ever exhibition in Tokyo this weekend; to celebrate its latest event, the brand also unveiled six limited-edition watches and a collection of rare artefacts.
The Tokyo Watch Art Exhibition, Patek Philippe's sixth major international exhibition recently, will open to the public in the Japanese capital on June 25.
In a huge space of 2,500 square meters, visitors feel as if they are on the streets of Geneva, with the latest exhibition showing the inner workings of the famous watch factory.
As with previous visits to the city, the Patek Philippe Shopping replica watches event took place at Tokyo's iconic Sumitomo Sankaku Plaza building, among the towering towers in the city's affluent West Shinjuku business district.
Rare and unique clocks and items
Over 500 timepieces and objects are on display at this unique one-off event. Highlights include the brand's entire current collection and rare artefacts including miniature enamel painting, cloisonné enamel, hand-carving, micro-wood marquetry, hand-guilloche and gem-setting.
In homage to the iconic setting of the Japanese capital, the exhibition also features 40 one-of-a-kind pieces and limited editions (dome clocks, table clocks, pocket high quality replica watches and wristwatches) inspired by Japanese culture. These pieces explore the country's Extensive art repertoire and ancestral techniques, with live demonstrations by skilled local artisans.

The exhibition also features some 190 pieces belonging to the Patek Philippe Museum in Geneva, which were given special permission to participate in the event in Tokyo. Those in the "Antique Collection" (16th century to early 19th century) include some of the world's oldest watches and numerous technical and aesthetic masterpieces illustrating the entire history of horology.

A new section of this year's event called "Historical Owners" looks at some of the funniest stories from the watch brand's archives. One of the timepieces on display is a pendant watch presented to Queen Victoria at the Great Exhibition in London in 1851, along with timepieces from other notable patrons.

Of the six new products, two are making their world debuts: a new self-winding quadruple complication watch (Ref. 5308P-010) and the first World Time watch with a date display synchronized with local time (Ref. 5330G-010).
